My practice is built on something few others in this space can offer: years of experience inside the agencies, institutions, and organizations my clients now deal with every day.
Before launching Nicole Green, Esq. PLLC, my career was spent building expertise from the ground up — deliberately. At the Governor's Office of Storm Recovery, I created the agency's onsite monitoring program, overseeing $885 million in federal disaster recovery funds flowing to contractors, subcontractors, and nonprofits building New York back. That hands-on work — in the field, on construction sites, and inside the compliance frameworks governing federal grants — led me to seek out construction management certification from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and to join the NYC Bar's Construction Committee.
From there, the work expanded in scope and complexity. At NJ Transit, I oversaw compliance, contracts, and risk for more than $2 billion in active capital projects — managing the legal relationship between a major transit agency and the contractors performing that work. As General Counsel at TakeRoot Justice, every matter was contract and compliance-driven, serving a nonprofit navigating the obligations that come with government funding. As a Hearing Officer at NYC OATH, I adjudicated Department of Buildings enforcement proceedings — stop work orders, construction code violations, site safety matters — and wrote the binding decisions that resolved them. As regional counsel to a major construction firm, I managed MTA and NYDOT contracts, disputes, and subcontractor relationships from inside the industry itself.
That background informs everything this firm does. For construction firms and contractors, it means an attorney who understands how agencies respond, what compliance teams look for, and how disputes actually get resolved. For government contractors, it means counsel who has managed federal procurement from the inside. For nonprofits receiving government funds, it means an advisor who has been on the monitoring side of exactly the relationship they face — and who understands the compliance obligations that come with every dollar of public funding.
